The network was created by a partnership between the public and private sectors. It involves the MOPC and a consortium of private companies performing the construction, operations and maintenance. The MOPC owns and governs the network, setting the standards for the private sector partners’ operations.
This is a large-scale project. For this reason, Council decided from the start that it would call upon recognized industry leaders to build a reliable, high-performance network capable of giving our citizens and businesses access to the full potential of new digital technologies. In 2017, it put out a request for proposals for a consortium to come together to build and maintain the network for the MOPC.
